Classroom Expectations:
You must be in your assigned seat with your homework open on your desk when the bell rings.
Come prepared for class. You will not be permitted to go to your locker during the class period.
Please be respectful of yourself, your teacher, classmates, and their possessions.
Please follow directions and complete all assignments on time.
Remain alert, awake, and on task during the class period.
Materials: These materials are required for class every day unless otherwise instructed.
Textbook (properly covered all year with a book sock or brown paper)
3-ring binder with notebook paper (only used for World History class)
Blue or black pens, #2 pencils with eraser, and highlighters
Three hole puncher (can be kept at home)
USB drive
Notebook/Folder:
Your binder will be used for notes, in-class activities, and homework assignments. It must be kept organized. It must be brought to class daily. Students are required to take notes during class and their notes will be periodically checked.
Homework:
Written homework is necessary to clarify and reinforce class material. Written homework will be collected before homeroom.
Late homework will not be accepted.
Homework is graded on completeness not correctness.
Major Assessments:
There will be at least 3 major tests/assessments each quarter.
Tests will vary in style (essay, objective etc). Assessments may include a research paper, presentation and/or a project.
Testing Policy / Cheating:
Any student seen or suspected of cheating on a test, quiz, project, or any assessment will receive the grade of 0.
Please complete all work independently. If a student has copied or provided homework to be copied, no credit will be given to either student for that homework assignment.
Quizzes:
Quizzes can be given approximately 2 times per week on class notes and discussion.
Class absence:
Students absent from class are responsible for making up missed work, tests and/or quizzes.
Students have 3 days to complete and return the missed work. After 3 days, the grade will be marked as incomplete and result in a 0.
If you are absent on the day that a test or quiz is scheduled, it is YOUR responsibility to make arrangements with me to take at your lunch / study period or after school.
Absence on the day before a major test does not preclude the student from taking the test on the day given. It is expected that studying is being done several days before the test day and not just the night before.
All assignments will be posted on GradeConnect or the class website (mshworldhistory.wikispaces.com) and can be accessed from home.
Grading policy:
All assessments will be posted to adphila.gradeconnect.com as soon as they are graded. It is important that you keep returned test/quizzes for your records. Grades are calculated as follows:
Major Assessments: 100 points per test
Homework: points according to assignment
Quizzes: 50 points per quiz
Participation: 10 points per day
